Desk and screen tension

Therapeutic massage
Neck, shoulder, and upper-back tension is one of the most common reasons people book massage. Desk work, screens, driving, and stress all load this area. Healing Touch Spa offers RMT-led massage focused on releasing that tension for clients in Caledon and nearby Brampton.

Massage therapy can support muscle-tension relief and mobility, but it is not a medical diagnosis or emergency treatment. Seek medical care for severe pain, numbness, weakness, injury, or symptoms that are new or worsening.
The neck, shoulders, and upper back carry a lot of postural load. Long hours at a desk, looking down at a phone, driving, and stress all encourage the muscles here to tighten and stay contracted. Over time this can lead to stiffness, restricted movement, and the familiar ache across the shoulders and base of the neck.
Massage therapy targets this tension directly. By working the muscles of the neck, shoulders, upper back, and the area around the shoulder blades, treatment can reduce tightness, ease muscle guarding, and improve how comfortably you can turn and move. Your Registered Massage Therapist assesses your posture and tension patterns, then adapts pressure and technique to suit you.
Tension headaches often have a strong neck and shoulder component, so clients dealing with those frequently benefit from work in this area as well. If headaches are your main concern, our dedicated tension headache page goes into more detail.
A note on carpal tunnel: massage does not treat carpal tunnel syndrome, which involves compression of a nerve at the wrist and should be assessed medically. However, many people with wrist and hand symptoms also carry significant tension through the forearms, shoulders, and neck. Massage can help relieve that associated muscle tension. It is supportive care for the surrounding muscles only, not a treatment for the nerve condition itself.
